Open Water Coaching (Minimum age 14yrs)

Have you always wanted to try Open Water Swimming? Or perhaps you have done it before, but want to improve your skills in the water? We have courses that will suit any level of experience, from first-timers, to those wanting to prepare for big events!

Beginners

This course is suitable for complete beginners.

The session will last approx 1.5hrs to 2 hours.  For the first hour we will be covering theory, including;

  • Choosing a wetsuit & best fit
  • Anti-chafing
  • Choosing the right goggles
  • Swim Caps & Tow Floats
  • Overcoming fear - relax, relax, relax
  • Cold water acclimatisation
  • Breathing techniques
  • Taking a Breath and Sighting
  • Turns
  • Drafting

1 to 1 Coaching

1 x 90 minute 1 to 1 coached session in pool or open water – £65

Group Coaching

1 x 120 minute 2 to 4 coached session in pool or open water – £55pp

Intermediate / Advanced swimmers

  • Wetsuit fitting and the correct way to put on a wetsuit
  • Cold water acclimatisation
  • Breathing techniques
  • Sighting
  • Turning buoys
  • Drafting
  • Race day tactics
  • Training Plans

1 to 1 Coaching

1 x 60 minute 1 to 1 coached session in pool or open water – £65

3 x 60 minute 1 to 1 coached sessions in pool or open water –  £180

6 x 60 minute 1 to 1 coached sessions in pool or open water – £350

Group Coaching

1 x 60 minute up to 2 swimmers coached session in pool or open water – £50pp

1 x 60 minute  up to 4 coached session in pool or open water – £35pp

Hybrid Coaching

Virtual and face-to-face coaching service

SWB Service can provide you with a training plan to help you achieve your goal, e.g. 1 mile, 3.8km, 5km, 10km, or long distance e.g. The English Channel

Each week we can chat via video call to discuss your progress - what is going well and what to move on to next.  This will also help you maintain the motivation for your training.

Here is a sample of a training plan for open water and for pool training:

Remote Coaching

£10 / week

  • Weekly video call up to 10 minutes
  • Provide well-structured training plans, which you will implement in your own time
  • Find a buddy support or swimming group

Coach Based

£20 / week

  • Provide 1-1 coaching (30 minutes)
  • Bespoke training plan – can adapt to meet your training requirements
  • Weekly video call up to 10 minutes

Is it possible to swim from couch to 1km within six weeks?

Yes!! Swimming without a training plan is like trying to drive in a foreign country without a map.  You might arrive eventually, (if you haven't given up) but it might not be by the most appropriate route, or in the quickest time!  With a training plan you are 80 % more likely to achieve with your goal.
